60 years of history

The highlights of our history: the first increasingly challenging projects that have allowed us to grow.

In January 1963 the engineering studio was started in via Suardi 74, Bergamo. The first works were immediately challenging with the structures design, already the following year, of the retirement home in Albino and the Madone Cinema built with a large light covering in reinforced concrete which will be followed by several condominiums in Bergamo.

Invernizzi in Caravaggio and Lediberg in San Paolo d’Argon are the first two customers in the industrial sector. In both cases, a personal relationship of Eng. Mora with the owners of the companies (Mr. Remo Invernizzi and Mr. Giolindo Castelli) who will be the basis of a long collaboration. In Invernizzi the collaboration lasted for 47 years until the closure of the plant with the revamping by phases of the crescenza, gorgonzola and mozzarella departments and the introduction of the line for Philadelphia production.

The son, Eng. Luigi Mora, start collaborating in the office and the civil design sector was structured alongside the structural design with the first sewage treatment plant in Massa Carrara designed for Salvi and Passavant companies.
The structures of the Casnigo school are realize with large light roofs cast in place and the renovations of many buildings in Bergamo Alta continue so also in the historic hamlets of Bergamo.

The collaboration with the Ezio Rossi foundry in Bergamo, leader in the production of cast iron manholes, begins, for which the first moulding plant with the new furnaces is designed.
In the same period the Elframo factories in Curnasco and Treviolo were designed and many bakeries in Bergamo (Nessi, Oreni, Tresoldi) were renovated with new ovens and shops.

On February 29, 1988, the company was formed and the first computer (a digital microvax) was purchased, which allowed to calculate the structures and obtain drawings in a semi-automatic way.
In 1992, with the approval of the Merloni law that establishes the engineering companies, CED INGEGNERIA assumes the current denomination.

Still for the Salvi general contractor, the structures and the detailed civil project of the Brembo office building in Curno are designed and the bases of the first dynamic test rig introduced in the factory are designed.

With the founders of the current ESE Company in Milan, the first cogeneration plant in Italy was designed for which, with the command of the Milan Firefighters then directed by Eng. Corbo, the fire protection devices were defined. The plant is the only one in Italy that develops for 36 meters in height, half of which are underground.

The design of an industrial site for the production of prefabricated reinforced concrete in East Germany, of a plant at the ARBED steelworks in Luxembourg and of an ice palace with a large light metal roof in Zurich, were the first design experiences abroad. Later there will be numerous experiences abroad, almost always for Italian customers, with designs according to local standards and international codes.

For the design of structures, we were called to collaborate for the competition of AEM and the Politecnico of Milano on the new campus in Bovisa, won by our group, which had as its leader ARCHITECTURE STUDIO of Paris (Tisnado, Robain and Bonne) designers of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
A unique experience that allowed us to learn a lot, followed by collaborations on projects with architects Mario Botta, Norman Foster, Atelier Moschino, Herzog- De Meuron, Jean Nouvel, Shigeru Iwakiri.

e previous year we had designed the new forming line at the Torbole foundries and Brembo called us to completely renovate the first foundry they had acquired. A complex project that involved all departments, from the storage of raw material to the finishing line of pieces.

For several years we have collaborated with DESPE company in the demolitions design of large boilers of thermoelectric plants, providing the lowering to the ground with a system of jacks connected to a PLC for safe demolition. A system was then developed, it allows the demolition of skyscrapers with the TOP – DOWN system tested for the first time in Lyon. Also demolition projects of the Alcione theaters in Milan and Astra in Bergamo.

Legislative Decree no. 494 of 14 August 1996 established the figures of the Security Coordinator and the PSC.
CED INGEGNERIA immediately become familiar with these new activities and the collaboration with MM was important to define the PSC of the underground projects for Cinisello and Bicocca and for the first time to face significant interference risks with ordinary roads and pedestrians.

The project guidelines drawn up by CED INGEGNERIA with Brembo technicians were the fundamental premise for such a wide-ranging project, in which we integrated the structural and system engineering aspects during construction as the preliminary architectural project evolved. The integrated detail design and the fractional management of tenders allowed a very high quality and the containment of time and costs.

The Eng. Modina and the I. E. Merisio start working in the company, that leads to the expertise on heating and utilities systems, electrical systems, automation and control. This allowed the ability of a complete internally design in a coordinated way involving all engineering disciplines.

Our architectural, structural and plant project included two 33-floors towers, a residential one and a commercial one with hotel and shopping mall. The structural executive project of the first tower was developed with foundations on large diameter piles in an area “stolen” from the sea and with a combined steel and concrete structure, taking into account the possibilities of supplying materials and the operational capabilities of local workers.

Eng. Marco Mora starts his collaboration in the company, strong of an experience in Bayer and Radici Group, and an already advanced competence of the new BIM system that totally innovate the design. Thus the second generational change starts, also with the subscription of shares by the more experienced PMs in the company. First of all Paolo Testa, Michela Mazzoleni, Lorenzo Donghi, then Andrea Modina and Andrea Milani became partners.

The first important projects are developed:

• for Covestro in Filago: project of a plant with extruder in which BIM is used to represent utilities, civil, structures and process plants in a single project;
• for Ferring Pharmaceuticals in Copenhagen: project of the headquarters and laboratories in which BIM is used resting on a Cloud server that allows each designer to work in his own place (Bergamo, Milan, London) at the same time.

Construction and safety management for a complex that includes a hotel, a commercial part, an arena for shows and sports competitions, 90 apartments, shops, 1000 covered parking spaces, wellness center, fitness center, medical center. A construction process that also includes 500 people at the same time with badges access and a digitalized management and a control model that allows you to have information and documents on the online platform for all actors in real time.
